A triathlon is an endurance multisport that consists of swimming, cycling and running over various distances.

How to Play

The objective of this sport is to see which athlete has the fastest overall time combined with each of the sports.

Equipment Requirements

  • A bicycle
  • Elastic laces to reduce any unwanted time for tying shoe laces.
  • Helmet for cycling to protect against any falls.
  • Running shoes
  • Race belt to safely keep the athletes race number.
  • Swim cap to keep swimmer’s hairs from getting wet.
  • Goggles so that swimmers can see where they are going.
  • A tri-suit, which is worn throughout all three portions of the race. This saves athletes time from changing.
  • A wetsuit for swimmers if the water temperature is extremely cold.

Jan Frodeno

Jan started out as a swimmer at age 15 and in 2000 he entered in a triathlon. Before he went to the olympics he placed sixth in the 2007 World Championships and in the same year winning the German Championship. He won gold at the 2008 Olympics and he is a three time winner of the Ironman World Championships in 2015, 2016, and 2019. He was also a two time winner for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. In 2016 he set the world record for the long distance and broke his own record in 2021.
