It is a ball game played with paddles on a flat table with a net in the middle. Thrill of the sport is fast play and long rallies.

How to Play

The paddlers, either one vs one or two vs two, try to hit the ball over the net onto the other side to score a point. The ball must bounce twice for a point, the first bounce has to be on the table. The first to 11 points wins.

  2. Doubles- have an up partner who stays in front for any short hits. There is also a back partner who stays back for any long hits

  • Paddles (two to four depending on the number of players)
  • Table tennis table
  • Ping pong balls.

Ma Long

Ma Long arrived on the scene in table tennis at an early age. In his early career, he won the Asian and World Junior championships. When he was just 17 years old, Ma became world champion at the 2006 Bremen Championships, the youngest player to do it. Since then, he has won the World Tour Grand Finals six times, the Asian Championships three times, and the Asian Cup four times, the most ever. He currently has the most major titles for a male player with 13. Long also holds the record for most time spent as the number 1 ranked player in the world (34 months in March 2015). He still continues to play and is even captain of the Chinese national table tennis team since 2014.
