Surfing is a water sport where a surfer rides a board on moving waves of water. Some of the tricks that can be done include: snaps, turns, 360s, cutbacks, tube rides, alley oops, and others. Thrill of the sport is performing cool tricks on the surfboard and riding huge waves. 

How to Play

In competitive surfing, surfers are given runs and try to catch as many waves as possible. Five to nine judges score each surfer on a scale of 1-10. Scoring is based on difficulty, speed, power, flow, and tricks/ maneuvers. The surfer with the highest score wins.

  • Surfboard
  • A wetsuit to protect surfers against the cold waters.
  • A rash guard to protect surfers against the sun.
  • A leash is for when the surfer wipes out and can stay with their board at all times.
  • Fins to help give a surfer stability, control and direction.

Slater started surfing by age five. He’s an American professional surfer who is best known for his crowning of World Surf League Champion 11 times. He’s recognized as the greatest professional surfer of all time. He is a three time Triple Crown of Surfing Champion winner. Alongside that he has won gold twice in the X-Games in 2003 and 2004.
