Snowboarding is done on a snowy downward hill or slope while standing on a snowboard. Similar to skateboarding, In competitive snowboarders perform runs consisting of different tricks done on half-pipes, ramps, beams, and other platforms. Some of the tricks that can be performed include: ollies, nollies, melons, nose grabs, presses, and different types of 180 turns. In the Olympics, there are different snowboarding events, such as: slopestyle, slaloms, cross, halfpipe, and big air. Thrill of the sport is doing cool tricks off of the platforms, getting major airtimes, and riding at high speeds.
The objective of snowboarding is to race down the course in the fastest time possible or be able to perform the best tricks and techniques.

Shaun White is a former professional snowboarder and skateboarder. Following his older brother he made a switch from skiing to snowboarding at the age of six and by age seven he got his first sponsorship. He is a five-time Olympian and is a three-time gold medalist in the Olympic halfpipe snowboarding. He holds the world record for the most X-Games gold medals with 13 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze. He’s won 10 ESPY Awards in various categories in his career and won the Air & Style Contest in 2003 and 2004. He retired in 2022 after competing in his last Winter Olympic.
