Snooker

snu · kr

Snooker is a cue sport where players play on a table similar to English Billiards with six pockets at the corner and middle of each long side of the table.

How to Play

The objective of the game is for players to use their cue stick to strike the white cue ball to hit the other colored ball on the table in predefined order. Players get a point for each successful ball they get into the pockets. They also get a point if their opponent commits a foul. The player who scores the most points wins.

Sports Role(s)

  • If played in teams, each player is responsible for taking shots.
  • Individual players compete for themselves.

Equipment Requirements

  • The snooker table, which is a rectangular table with six pockets, one pocket at each corner and one in the middle of the long sides of the table.
  • Chalk used to put the tip of the cue stick. It helps to apply spin on the cue ball.
  • A snooker ball set which includes fifteen reds, six color balls and one white cue ball. All the balls are unmarked.
  • The cue stick is used to hit the white cue ball.
  • A triangle to help shape the red balls.
