Rollerblading or Inline skating is a sport  performed on skates with two or five wheels arranged in a line racing on a track.

How to Play

The objective of rollerblading is to race around a track attempting to get the best time.

Equipment Requirements

  • Inline skates where the wheels are arranged in a line.
  • Knee and elbow pads to protect skaters against falls, scrapes and other injuries.
  • Helmets are also to protect skaters from injuries.
  • Palm sliders which protect the hands when performing different types of maneuvers.

Mareike started off as a figure skater when she was 6 years old but then switched to inline speed skating. In 2006, she became the first European Junior Champion and won 4 medals that year. She also won a medal from the Junior World Champion in Korea. She won a gold medal in 2008 at the World Sprint Championships. In 2009 she won her first senior gold medal in the World Championships and won silver in 2013 at the World Games in Cali.
