Rock climbing is when participants climb up and down natural rock formations or artificial rock walls.

The objective of rock climbing is to reach the top or end point on a predefined route without falling.

• Climbers usually climb for themselves.
• If there are two climbers one is the lead climber and the other is the follower.
• Belays are people at the bottom helping to feed rope to the climbers or take in rope.

• Accessory cord is thinner than the rope and it is used to make anchors.
• Anchors are made from the accessory cord turned into a cordallete which is static.
• ATC which means Air Traffic Control Device can be used to belay a climber from the ground or above.
• Assisted braking devices offer a mechanical advantage when belaying and it is used for lead climbing.
• Carabiners are useful for anchors and for live saving equipment like attaching the belay device to the belayer.
• A crash pad is used for landing after a fall.
• Harness to protect climbers as they ascend.
• Helmet for protection because when climbing falls are inevitable.

Adam is a professional rock climber who specializes in lead climbing and bouldering. He is considered a lead climbing prodigy. He is the only male athlete to have won the World Championship titles in the same year and the only male athlete to win the World Cup in both lead climbing and bouldering. When he was just 13, he climbed his first route and by 2013 he had repeated every hard route in the world.
