Motorsports is a group of competitive events that involve the use of motorized vehicles with four wheels.

The objective of the sport is to achieve the fastest possible time by driving around laps. There are two types of races: open wheel racing and enclosed wheel racing. Open wheel racing is when the wheels are outside the vehicle and there is no bodywork covering the wheels. Formula One, Formula E, and the IndyCar Series are all open wheel racing. Enclosed racing is where the wheels of the vehicle are covered by the bodywork of the vehicle. Enclosed racing includes sports car racing, stock car racing, touring car racing, and off-road racing.

Each driver races for themselves. 

• Balaclava is a hood worn by drivers underneath their helmets to protect their face and head from burning in case of a crash.

• Clocks/stopwatches so drivers can decide how to shorten their lap times.
• The engine which gives the car its power and speed.
• Footwear so that drivers can have proper grip on the pedals.
• The halo protects the driver’s head from any incoming objects that may be flying loose around the track.
• The hans system reduces the force on the driver’s head and neck in case of a crash.
• Helmets protect the driver from shocks and fires.
• Racing gloves provide the driver with grip to the steering wheel and protect the hands.
• Racing suits which are light and protect the driver from any fires.

Johnson is a seven time NASCAR Cup Series Champion. He began motor racing when he was four years old. After graduating high school he competed in off-road series. He also won rookie of the year.
