Mixed Martial Arts or MMA is a full contact sport where athletes use a wide variety of fighting techniques and skills from other sports.

The objective of the sport is to defeat the opponent by using striking, throwing and grappling techniques.

Equipment Requirements

  • Ankle supports provide support and protection from ankle injuries.
  • Coagulants are used during fighter’s one-minute breaks to fix up any cuts on their face.
  • Eye irons are also used during break times to put on the fighter’s eye to prevent swelling.
  • Forearm guards protect the fighter’s forearms and elbow.
  • Gauze is used to wrap the fighter’s hands before the fight. This protects the fighter’s hand and wrist bones.
  • Gloves which are different from boxing gloves because the fingers are exposed for grappling.
  • Groin protectors protect the groin area from kicks, knee, and sometimes punches.
