Horse riding or equestrian is when riders ride a horse and control the animal’s movement and speed with maximum effectiveness and minimum efforts.
There are three events for horse riding that include dressage, show jumping, and eventing. In dressage, the riders are judged on the quality of training and the suppleness and elasticity of the horse. Riders will go through a series of tests with the highest score of 100. Show jumping is where riders and horses jump over hurdles against the clock while making minimal mistakes. The rider with the lowest time and least mistakes wins. Eventing combines dressage, show jumping and endurance and the rider with the lowest points wins.
Each rider competes for themselves.
