Diving is the sport of plunging into water, usually headfirst, from a platform or springboard. It can be performed with additional gymnastic or acrobatic stunts to score more points over the competition.
The objective of the sport in competition is to perform a series of dives to score more points than the competition. The diver, or pair of divers, with the most points at the end of the competition win.
Competition diving requires goggles, appropriate swimwear, an elevated springboard or platform, and a large pool of water. Goggles are up to the divers discretion when diving recreationally.
