Bobsleigh is a winter sport where teams go down narrow, twisting, banked, ice tracks on gravity powered sleds.

How to Play

The objective of the game is to win the race by crossing the finish line in the least amount of time possible in two or four runs.

Sports Role(s)

  • The pilot is in charge of steering the bobsled down the curved, narrow track.
  • The brakeman is the one who presses down on a set of pads at certain points in the track in order for the vehicle to take corners at optimum speed.

Equipment Requirements

  • Helmets and eye goggles for protection.
  • Spike shoes so when athletes are taking their running start that don’t slip.
  • Kevlar Vests are for the brakesman to prevent friction burns
  • Bobsleigh vehicles 
  • Steering equipment that helps the pilot direct the vehicle.

Andre Lange

Andre is a retired bobsledder. He competed in the Winter Olympics in 2002, 2006, and 2010. He has won four gold medals and one silver. He began his career as a luger but in 1993 started to take up bobsleigh. He also has fourteen medals from the FIBT World Championships, with eight of them being gold. He won three combined Bobsleigh World Cup championships.
